Most university students have a lot on their plate.

Between class, work, studying and socializing, there doesn’t leave much room for many other activities that might interest them. Often, we hear San Jose State referred to as a “commuter” school, a nose to the grindstone kind of deal where you just go to class and then leave when it’s done.

Fortunately, the truth is that there’s more to it than that. SJSU has become a community-driven campus, aiming to engage students even when they’re not looking at a whiteboard. Multiple events happening almost any given week grant students with options that range from academic to nonacademic, workshops, concerts and philanthropy events. There is also the fact that the campus is right next to downtown San Jose, which hosts concerts and other community events.
